Taylor Battle was born in Landstuhl, Germany in 1988. She received her BFA in Illustration and Graphic Design from Savannah College of Art & Design in 2011. In 2016 she graduated from the University of Central Florida (UCF) with her MFA in Emerging Media Studio Art. Battle’s work considers the experiences of past generations of women in her family and her relationship to them. She seeks to memorialize these women to avoid their erasure. Through the progressive abstraction of their figures, she chases an honest representation of her understanding.
